The Withlacoochee is a beautiful, shaded 46-mile trail with many opportunities for camping, dining and recreation.

One of the best things about the Withlacoochee is the abundance of good places to camp, and the proximity to the rivers and mountain bike trails of the Withlacoochee State Forest (declared as one of the "10 Coolest Places in North America" by the World Wildlife Fund).  Every year the Swamp Club sponsors the Croom Trail Ride in early February.  This is a great event because of the camping at Silver Lake State Recreation Area which is right on the Withlacoochee State Trail.  Silver Lake offers tent and RV camping, fishing and canoeing, as well as miles of mountain bike trials and access to the Withlacoochee State Trail.

This year the Croom 35/50 Trail Ride starts with a night ride on Feb 3, and continues on February  4-5.  This is a great chance for railtrail riders like us to get together with Mountain bike riders and share adventures and comradery even if we don't enjoy the same kinds of trails.
